Wine is a symbol of life and blood, a sacred drink of many cultures. It is a unifier of great opposites, fire and water, life and death. Wine is the blood of the earth, a symbol of life force, superhuman energy. Red wine is associated with blood, white wine with the lymphatic system, thus it is a symbol of life and immortality.
"The history of wine is the history of humanity," the saying goes, and indeed, "sunlight in a bottle" has been glorified by hundreds of poets for centuries, and it was particularly important for Hungarians, since: "from the moment he entered this world to the moment he died, wine was everywhere in his life." "In times of war and peace, before and after battle, during victory and defeat, during fasting and during Lent, at weddings and feasts, during wine-filtering and wine-making, at gatherings and fairs, before and after exhortations and treaties, they drank wine and honored each other with wine,"- wrote the distinguished historian Sándor Takáts.
